The Village

The movie is set in a Piligim-style village. Quaint, innocent, with a lot of secrets. The village is surrounded by a forrest which is inhabited by “those we don’t speak of”. A group of elders rule the village. We see the village at the time when the second generation is finding its feet. They are not the original settlers, and all they know about their history is what their parents have told them. They are at the point of their lives when they are inquisitive.

There is an invisible boundary that separates the forrest from the village. Nobody crosses that line.

But then it becomes necessary that one has to, if she wants to save her love.

The Village is a tale of love, lies and hope.

Very predictable, Night could have taken the path less trodden, but then we need’nt be surprised that he didn’t. Nothing in his history shows him as a gambler. He sticks to the trodden path and does what he does best. The result is a good movie, but it could have been a great one.
